Lillian's question of the day: What is a vegetarian? Lillian's response: "Uh... some one who eats vegetables. We are vegetarian because we don't eat meat. We don't eat meat because vegetarians don't eat meat. We don't want to eat animals because when someone eats meat they can die." Don't you just love Lillian's circular, yet logical thinking?

Lillian's question of the day: What's the perfect size family?

Lillian's response: "5 people." Lillian's mom asked her why? "Because 5 is the right amount of a family" Lillian's mom: "Why?" "You need 5 people because then it's 2 sisters, 1 brother, 1 Mom and 1 Dad." Lillian's mom: "What about people in families that dont have 5 people?" "Then it can just be 4. or 3. Those are good families too. If I had 3 or 4 people in my family I would love them all. If I had 5 people in my family i can love them all too." Lillian's mom: "What about families with only 1 mom or 1 dad? Not 2 grown ups?" "Those are good families too. Or if there were no sisters or no brothers. Just you and your mommy or daddy. That's good too. They can still love each other. All the people in a family have to love each other. The end. Spell THE END Mommy. Did you spell THE END? Let me see it. Does it say THE END? What did Aunt Marian say back to you? Can i draw now?"

How incredibly insightful Lillian is! She made me cry reading what she said. I wish more people were as open and loving as Lillian is.

Lillian's response: "Ice cream! I love it because its so ... yummy and delicious!"

Lillian you are correct and we all know that your mom only gives you ice cream at all meals. Looks like you're getting all the basic food groups on the all ice cream diet!

Lillian's response: "Flowers grow by dirt and water. They grow because we want our house to be beautiful."

So simple and yet so true! Isn't it amazing that she understands basic science at such a young age?

Lillian's question of the day: Do you like coffee as much as your mom?

Lillian's response: "What? Coffee? No! Kids don't drink coffee!"
Lillian's mom adds this: "LIES! If I get an iced mocha or something like that she TOTALLY takes sips off of it!! She loves it! I think she's picturing hot coffee like what her dad drinks in the morning!

Oh Lillian, I suspect you've developed a taste for the good stuff at an early age. Better get a refillable Starbucks card soon.

Lillian's response: "Spring is when it's warm and flowers bloom. I wear shorts and mommy is gonna buy me a new bike!"

Totally random question for Lillian today. Let's see how she responds.

Today's question: Which meal is the most important one of the day?

Lillian's response: "Dinner. It has the most healthy food. I like to eat sandwiches and drink smoothies for dinner."

Lillian's mom adds the following: Mind you she does NOT like sandwiches. Don't know why she said she does.

Sounds like Lillian is embellishing for the press. Is she anticipating a career in front of the spotlight? I think so!

In anticipation of St. Patrick's Day, I thought I would ask Lillian something about it.

Today's question: What does St. Patrick's Day mean to you? Will you be doing anything special? If so, what?

Lillian's response: "Uh ... that we go to a parade. We can go to many playgrounds. St Patrick got his own holiday because he was a special guy. He was a good guy. Everyone wears green today because it's St. Patrick's day and on St. Patrick's Day we have to wear green and white with clovers."

Lillian's question of the day: C (my son who is in high school) was asked in school yesterday what he thought Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation meant. So today's question then is who is Abraham Lincoln and what is the Emancipation Proclamation?

This should be interesting...

Lillian's response: "He is a president. He was special because he does good things. Emancipation proclamation... What's that? (help from E - her sister) he ended being slavery. He was being good to other people but some of the people didnt like him but some people did like him."

I don't know about you, but I would never have guessed that Lillian's 6-year-old sister would know about the Emancipation Proclamation, but I was shocked that a 4-year-old would even know who Abraham Lincoln was. I'm sure I was just trying to decipher the difference between Big Bird and Cookie Monster at that age. :)

Lillian's question of the day: Is she doing anything special for Pi Day?

Lillian's response: "‎Yes. Umm I'm going to school. Watching "where the wild things are." And buying sunglasses."

My sister's response: "Guess that means I need to take her shopping?"

Yes, Lillian. The official activity on Pi day is shopping so you are correct. Did you get those sunglasses? If so, I would love to see them!

Lillian's question of the day: Do animals have jobs and why?

Lillian's response: "No animals have no jobs. Because they are animals and animals don't have jobs."

Love the logic! She would have rocked it in my college logic class! I can almost see the X + Y = Z equation being worked out right in front of me. Can't wait to hear more from Lillian!

Friday's question to Lillian had me thinking I needed to ask her at least a question a day. Nothing like raw, unfiltered responses from a 4-year old.

Today's question I asked my sister to ask Lillian via FB: "Ok I have decided I am going to pose a question to Lillian everyday. Would you humor me and ask her on my behalf? Today's question: Where does the moon go during the day?"

Lillian's response: ‎"In the sky! It becomes the sun and it goes down". Hmmm...

Clearly she is paying attention, understands about object permanence, that it has its place in the nighttime sky, and well, it does belong in the sky. Smart girl Lillian!

Lillian has always had great bits of wisdom to share, but it was this one in particular that had me thinking that Lillian should share her wisdom with the world. Lillian's mom, my sister, posted this on FB: "Lillian keeps saying I'm going to be Lady Gaga for Halloween. Just now she said Jay is going to be a "giant banana". I really don't know what to say ..."

Of course, I had to respond with the following: "Oh please humor me and ask her what Cristian will be and then what I will be. Can't wait to hear her predictions."

To which my sister responded: "Aunt M (that's me) : a girl wizard; Uncle R (my husband) : a boy wizard; C (our son): a flag. Good luck with that!"

Can it get any better than that? I think not! So when we look back on all of the great things that Lillian has said, we will be able to trace it back to this one remark.
